Hailing from the community of Red Head Cove near Bay de Verde, Neil Hyde joined the Walsh Family Band as its bass player in 2000. He is also proficient on acoustic guitar and a variety of other instruments.

His mother Bertille Hyde is the only sister of Ray, Gerard and their other brothers Dave, Brian, Ron and Robert Walsh. The entire family inherited a deep love for music and performing in general from their parents which in Bertille's case, was passed on to Neil. 

Along with his cousin Greg, other friends and relatives, Neil began listening to traditional music at a very young age which led to his participation in family jam sessions, local performances throughout the Bay de Verde peninsula area and eventually, to his involvement with the Walsh Family Band.

Neil currently lives in St. John's, NL where he works as a designer. He also operates his own graphic and web design company (Hyde Away Designs) and he recently designed the new webpage for the Walsh Family band, among the many others he has worked on and completed as part of his professional work.
